Overview
This is escorted tour to Mongolia takes you through the south Gobi Desert and the northern Taiga region at the Khuvsgul Lake. The places visited offer an amazing contrast. Visit the most popular sights in the Gobi, ride a Bactrian, watch gazelles and birds of prey and experience ice walk in the Yol Valley. Then fly north to the Khuvsgul Lake, where you will explore ancient heritage sites, ride a horse or mountain bike along the lake’s shores, all while surrounded by magnificent wilderness scenery. DAY 1
Fly to South Gobi
Our guide will meet you at your hotel and go with you to the airport for an early flight to the Gobi Desert. After arriving in the southern provincial capital of Dalanzadgad you will meet the driver and a guide and they will transfer you to the Three Camel Lodge. After lunch we will travelling to Yol Valley which will takes 1 hour (50km) drive from the lodge. The vehicle will be left at the gorge’s entrance, from where you will need to venture on foot. Yol Valley is notable for a deep ice field, which is several meters thick by the end of winter and is several kilometers long. In the summer there is usually less ice, but you should still be able to walk on it. The area is also habitat of ibex and birds of prey and you may be spot wildlife on top of the cliffs. Then return to your lodge located near the Gurvansaikhan Gobi National Park will stay in a deluxe ger in the ger camp. Lunch & dinner are included.

DAY 2
Travel to Khongor Sand Dunes
After breakfast in the camp, board the vehicle and continue your journey deeper into the Gobi Desert to the Khongor Els sand dunes. Keep a lookout for gazelles and birds of prey as you drive – the scenery is beautiful and populated by a plethora of wildlife. You can go for a walk on the dunes. You will reach at the ger camp in time for lunch. In the evening either return back to the dunes to see the spectacular sunset or enjoy evening of stargazing under the clear, Gobi sky. We will stay overnight in Gobi Erdene Ger camp which is near from the main attraction. BLD

DAY 3
Visit to nomad family and camel riding
Next day drive short distance to visit a camel herding family that spends the summers near the water springs close to the dunes – enjoy the hospitality in their ger where you will be able to try camel milk and other traditional Mongolian specialties. In the afternoon go for an hour-long camel ride alongside the dunes. Return to the Gobi Erdene camp for dinner and in the evening either return back to the dunes to see the spectacular sunset or enjoy an evening of stargazing under the clear, Gobi sky. Overnight stay in a deluxe ger at the Three Camel Lodge. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.

DAY 4
Travel to Bayanzag
After breakfast travel off-road to Bayanzag for 5 hours (150km). During the scenic drive, you will likely to see wild gazelles as they run along – it’s difficult for vehicles to catch up with them! The site also offers wonderful views over the desert. Have lunch in a village of Bulgan and soon after you will arrive at Bayanzag Flaming Cliffs. It was here that the first dinosaur eggs were discovered by American explorer Roy Chapman Andrews, and the area remains one of the most famous paleontological sites in the world. Stroll for an hour or two among the Flaming-red cliffs where the dinosaurs once roamed and back to Three Camel Lodge will arrive on time for dinner and settle in your ger for your last night in the Gobi. Overnight you will stay in a deluxe ger at the same camp. Breakfast, lunch & dinner are included.

DAY 5
Flight back to Ulaanbaatar

Fly to Khuvsgul Lake
After breakfast we will transfer you to the airport for the flight north to Murun where your driver will be waiting for you. Drive for 2 hours (120km) to Ashikhai tourist camp on the shore of the Khuvsgul Lake. Stop on the way to see reindeers and learn more about reindeer herders at a small encampment nearby. You will be staying today in a beautifully located ger camp by the lake’s shore, from where you can take short excursions along the shore on foot or by bicycle, which you can hire from the camp. Overnight stay at a deluxe ger at the Ashikhai ger camp. Breakfast, lunch & dinner are included.

DAY 7
Sukhbaatar ship trip
After breakfast, board the iconic Sukhaabatar ship and sail to a nearby island, climb up on the island’s highest point which is a vantage point from where the view of the lake and surrounding taiga is magnificent. After returning by ship to Khatgal, you will have a chance to go off cycling on trails leading alongside the lake and into the surrounding forests. In the afternoon, if you are up for it, go on an hour long horseback ride along the lake’s shores. No horse riding experience is necessary – Mongolian horses are small and we match horses to riders, plus you will have your horse wrangler and guide with you at all times to assist. Alternatively, you may go for a nature and bird-watching walk, explore rare medical herbs and wildflowers. Return to your camp for dinner. Overnight stay at deluxe ger at the Ashikhai ger camp. Breakfast, lunch & dinner are included.
DAY 8
Flight back to Ulaanbaatar
On the last day we will be travelling back to Murun city and from there we take a flight back to Ulaanbaatar city. Arrive in Ulaanbaatar and the driver will transfer you to the hotel concluding the whole trip. B
